Aha!
There we go. Working again.
First I bring you one Pomatomus sock:

Ta da!
Next, I bring you the Catch Me An Alpaca scarf:

So called because the stitch forms a kind of net. We can go a-huntin' alpacas. Or maybe not.

Finally, wot I cast on last night. Yarn snobs look away now:

Yep, I'm knitting something out of a tencel/acrylic blend (Zhivago). Even worse, I'm knitting something out of Crapative Knitting magazine. Known more for patterns such as the 'Classic' cardigan made of fun fur, and a whole lot of really awful assymetrical things, or just downright frumpy stuff, every now and then they do publish something wearable and, even more rarely, something attractive.
The yarn is actually quite nice to touch, and I was astonished to find I got gauge. Which probably means most people wouldn't.
Believe it or not, after all the stress of the leaky roof day, I couldn't face Pomatomus or even the toe of the beau's second sock. The endless, brainless ribbing of the... (what was it called? I'll call it the)... the Zhivago Top appealed to me.

That Hippo Toe sock looks fantastic, and that yarn really suits it!
Zhivago is really really soft.
Zhivago is a nice yarn, and tencel is a natural fibre, so I don't think you need to apologise for it, it's not fun fur!
Love the potamous sock (yes I know that's wrong but that's I read it the first time and I cannot say it any other way now!) I am planning to do some for me sometime too,.
Yay, one Tomatomus sock. It looks great - love the colours.
I like Zhivago - but I found it splits easily, which was annoying. Also the lot I knitted had knots in four balls out of five. But Patons gave me a free pattern book when I complained, so maybe I shouldn't have said that.
I was suspicious of Zhivago at first too - but people raved about the resulting garments, so I'm okay with it nowe. You have to watch their dye lots though: I bought two balls from different dye lots and there was so little resemblance, it looked like they'd changed the colour completely!
I had a little laugh over the "yarn snobs look away" comment..I'm new to blogging and knitting myself and am justing starting to become aware of the whole yarn snob thing..it's true! but i did a baby hat in zhivago for obvious reasons and i really like it.
